JAMMU, Jan 19: Two persons were killed today in two separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police official, an oil tanker this morning hit a bike and seriously injured its rider on Jammu-Akhnoor National Highway near Patel Nagar. The injured man identified as Nanak Chand (55) son of Gangu Ram, resident of Mahanpur (Kathua) was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
After completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites. In this connection, concerned police had registered a case and arrested the accused tanker driver, who was identified as Kewal Krishan son of Mohan Lal, resident of Gharota.
Another mishap also occurred on Jammu-Akhnoor Road but at Muthi, where a speeding tipper hit a scooty. In the mishap, scooty rider identified as Harsh Sharma (16) son of Sarwan Kumar, resident of Muthi, received serious injuries. He was rushed to GMCH Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors.
