JAMMU, May 2: Two persons were killed while five others were injured today in separate road mishaps in city outskirts.
According to a police official, a speeding car bearing registration number JK02AS-1315, which was on its way from Jammu to Akhnoor, this afternoon collided with a bus (registration number JK02AL-0297) coming from opposite side at Mishriwala on Jammu-Akhnoor Road.
In the mishap, car driver, Amarjeet Singh (47) son of Jagat Singh of Pouni, Reasi (at present, Karan Nagar, Lower Gadigarh) died on the spot while other two occupants of the car namely Mandeep Singh (17) son of Darshan Singh of Pouni (Reasi) and Bimla Devi (52) wife of Ved Parkash, resident of Gadigarh, sustained critical injuries. They were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, for treatment while body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary of the hospital.
In this connection, Kanachak police had registered a case and started investigations while efforts were on to nab the absconding bus driver and cleaner, who managed to flee from the spot of crime.
Another mishap occurred at S Morh on a bridge in Nagrota area where a speeding bike bearing registration number JK02AR-3571 skidded off the road. In the mishap, pillion rider, Akshay son of Hari Krishan (20), resident of Padder (Kishtwar) received serious injuries as he fell off the bridge. The bike rider namely Ravel Singh (24), son of Lakshmi Singh, resident of Padder (Kishtwar) also got injuries in the mishap.
They were immediately rushed to GMCH Jammu, where Akshay was declared as brought dead by the doctors while Ravel was responding to the treatment. The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary of the hospital while Nagrota police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations.
Meanwhile, two persons were injured when their scooties collided with each other at Suketar area falling under the jurisdiction of police station Jhajjar Kotli. The injured persons identified as Rashid Mohd (35) son of Beer Mohd of Dansal and Pawan Kumar (39) son of Hari Dass of Udhampur, were shifted to GMCH for treatment.
