Two killed, 21 injured in separate road accidents

JAMMU, Dec 2: Two persons were killed while 21 others were injured in four separate road accidents occurred today in city outskirts.
According to the reports, a pedestrian identified as Rattan Lal (55) son of Javo Ram, resident of Bale Bagh (Akhnoor) was hit and severely injured by a speeding unknown vehicle at Akhnoor, this afternoon. The injured man was immediately taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for medical treatment but he succumbed to his injuries at about 5:30 in the evening. The body of the deceased was sent for postmortem.
Another mishap occurred this evening at Gangyal Chowk, where a speeding truck hit a scooty and seriously injured its rider namely Dharm Dutt (67) son of Bansi Lal, resident of Ward number 9 (RS Pura). The injured man was shifted to GMCH Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead. The body of the deceased was sent for autopsy.
Meanwhile, 12 persons of a marriage party suffered injuries, one of them critical, when a mini-bus (bearing registration number JK02BN-9727) carrying them from Barui to Gharattal, overturned at Tacharuuan near Nadiwala, in the jurisdiction of Police Station Akhnoor. On receiving information about the mishap, a team of Akhnoor Police reached the spot and shifted the injured persons to Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor.
The injured persons were identified as Ravi Kumar (35) son of Jagdish Raj of Barui Akhnoor and her 7-year-old daughter Tanshi Sharma, Rohit Sharma (31) son of Ashok Kumar of Mandlik Nagar (Jammu), Riya (22) daughter of Jasveer of Barui, Manik (6) and Aryan Sharma (2) sons of Sanjeev of Sangani Akhnoor, Sikander (42) son of Mohan Lal of Sangani and his 9-year-old son Vasu and wife Asha (29), Renu (35), Nisha Devi (38) and Sonika Sharma (32). Later, nine of the injured persons were referred to GMCH Jammu, where condition of Riya was stated to be critical when the last reports came in.
Another mishap occurred late this evening near Indoor Stadium, Bhagwati Nagar, where a speeding Alto car hit the sports players from Punjab who were standing beside the road, opposite to the Indoor Stadium.
In the mishap, nine players received injuries, one of the serious. The injured persons were identified as Harshit (18) son of Pardeep, Vinay (20) son of Rajesh Kumar, Chirag (18) son of Vijay, Harkaran Singh (19) son of Harjinder, Gurkaran Singh (18) son of Harvinder, Ankit (15) son of Jai Ram, Sajpreet (13) son of Kamal Singh and Manas (12) son of Sourav Verma, all residents of Jagroan (Ludhiana, Punjab) and one unknown male of age about 20 years. All the players were shifted to GMCH Jammu for medical treatment
In all four accident cases, the concerned police had registered cases and started investigation.
