JAMMU, Sept 23: Two soldiers were killed and another injured when an Army vehicle fell into a deep gorge near Surankote in Poonch while a youth died after he was hit by an unknown vehicle on National Highway near Samba today.
A police spokesman said that an Army (40 RR) vehicle which was on its way to Rajouri from Surankote, skidded off the road at Totan Wali Gali and fell into a 150 feet deep gorge. While two soldiers were killed on the spot, the seriously injured L/Nk Bansrotia was removed to Military Hospital Rajouri.
The deceased were identified as L/Naik Vinod V S from Tamil Nadu and Shiv Kumar from Kerala. Gursai police shifted the bodies to Mendhar hospital and after conducting legal formalities handed over to the Unit officers.
Meanwhile, one Deep Kumar, son of Satto Ram, resident of Basantgarh (Ramnagar) was critically injured after he was hit by an unknown vehicle on National Highway near Barian in Samba this evening. The injured was rushed to GMC hospital Jammu but he succumbed to injuries on the way. Samba police registered a case and started search for the vehicle.
