Two hideouts busted; arms, ammunition recovered in Poonch

JAMMU: Security forces busted two hideouts and recovered cache of arms and ammunition in Poonch district.

“Police team along with Army this afternoon launched search operation in Ghani Forest area and busted a hideout,” official sources here today said. They said,’ ‘during the search 7.62 mm rounds (205), 50 charger clip SLR, nine rounds of Ak ammunition, used rounds of SLR (30), one revolver, two 51mm mortar shell, one rocket boster, one UBGL shell, one Ak shell and one RPG shell.”

Meanwhile in a separate incident, cache of arms and ammunition in Mendhar area was recovered.

“Based on specific inputs about presence of suspected war like stores, search operation was launched last evening in Berirakh Forest area of Mendhar,” Defence spokesperson said.

During a search four Chinese Grenades, three UBGL Grenades, one Pistol of 9mm, one Pistol magzine, 24 rounds of Ammunition 9mm, four AK Magzines, AK Ammunition (276 Rounds), five electronic detonators and three electronic components were recovered from the site. (AGENCIES)
