JAMMU, Feb 20: In two separate cases, two persons were found hanging at their respective residences in city outskirts.
According to a police official, an 18-year-old girl identified as Sunita daughter of Madan Lal, resident of Shehzadpur (Marh), was found hanging at her residence this evening with the hook of the ceiling fan.
He said as soon as the family members noticed the girl hanging, they informed the police, which shifted the girl in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where she was declared as brought dead by the doctors. “The body of the deceased was shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for postmortem”, he added.
An unmarried woman identified as Ratna alias Tanvi, 33, daughter of Sant Ram, resident of Shanti Nagar, Gangyal, was also found hanging at her residence, late last night. Today after completing all medico-legal formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites.
In both cases, the concerned police had taken cognizance and initiated inquest proceedings under 174 CrPC.
