Two escape unhurt in shootout

JAMMU, Jan 11: In what could be another example of growing crime, three armed men opened fire at two persons in broad day-light in Tali Morh area, falling under the jurisdiction of Janipur police station.
As per police sources, Jaspreet Singh alias Teena, son of Kulwant Singh along with his friend Gagandeep Singh, son of Amarjeet Singh, both resident of Nanak Nagar, were on their way to Ambphalla side from Janipur in a Scorpio car bearing registration number JK02BC-5684, when they were shot at around 12 Noon near Tali Morh area by three armed men.
Luckily Jasbir Singh and Gagandeep Singh escaped unhurt in the incident as the bullet hit the car.
Armed men riding had fired a bullet at Jasbir with a clear intention to murder him. After firing, the miscreants escaped from the scene probably on motorcycle.
Singh, who escaped unhurt, has identified one of the shooter, who has been identified as Harjeet Singh alias Jambo, son of Gurmukh Singh, a resident of Nanak Nagar. An old rivalry between the two sides resulted in today’s shootout.
A case under FIR Number 6/16 has been registered at Janipur police station and searches have been widened to arrest the shooters.
However, no arrest was made till last reports were compiled.
