RAMBAN/JAMMU, Dec 9: Jawahar Tunnel and Miran Sahib police arrested two drug peddlers along with contraband.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Jawahar Tunnel Police Post led by SI Wasim Mehraj under the supervision of SHO Banihal Inspector Abid Bukhari, SDPO Banihal Sajad Sarwar, Additional SP Sanjay Parihar and SSP Anita Sharma laid a naka at Chakori Nallah on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB23J-0997.
During search, police team recovered 2 quintals of poppy straw concealed in gunny bags and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Dalhinder Singh, son of Surjan Singh of Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 150/19 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Miran Sahib Police Station while checking at Brigade Bridge intercepted a person, who was moving under suspicious circumstances.
During checking, police team recovered 140 intoxicant capsules and 425 tablets from the possession of the pedestrian and arrested him.
The accused has been identified as Navrit Kumar, son of Satpal of Hakkal, District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 170/19 under section 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Miran Sahib and investigation started.
