JAMMU, Dec 9: Department of Remote Sensing and GIS conducted 21-day winter school training programme for capacity building in geospatial technologies and water resources , funded by the NRDMS, Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India, New Delhi.
The training programme concluded today with a valedictory session wherein Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Prof Manoj Dhar was the chief guest. The VC interacted with the participants and distributed certificate to the participants. He said that present day is the day of the bio, nano, information and geospatial technology and without the use of such technologies growth of science is not possible.
Dr Ashok K Singh, Principal Scientific Officer NRDMS DST, Govt of India, was the special guest of the occasion and he also interacted with the participants. He said that University of Jammu will get such kind of opportunities for conducting the training programme in future also.
Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Head Department of Remote Sensing & GIS and Coordinator of the training programme, said that in this 21-day training programme, resource person from various parts of North India were invited to deliver the lectures on the basis of the guidelines laid down by the Institute of Environment Education and Research, Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune and funding agency NRDMS, DST Govt of India.
