Two die of COVID, no let up in surge in new cases as 692 test +ve in J&K

21 fresh cases in Ladakh

JAMMU, July 27: Two persons died of COVID-19 while 692 tested positive in Jammu and Kashmir today. The Union Territory of Ladakh reported 21 fresh cases.
One COVID fatality and 431 cases were registered in Kashmir division while one casualty and 261 positives were recorded in Jammu division.
A 46-year-old man hailing from Mandi in Poonch district died of COVID-19 and co-morbidities at SKIMS Srinagar where he was undergoing treatment.
This has taken COVID casualties in Jammu division to 2338 and Jammu and Kashmir to 4765.
Jammu district has highest 1230 COVID deaths followed by Rajouri 249, Kathua 168, Udhampur 147, Doda 144, Samba 125, Poonch 111, Ramban 69, Reasi 49 and Kishtwar 46.
Among 261 fresh COVID positive cases in Jammu division, 167 were logged in Jammu district, 21 in Rajouri, 14 Samba, 13 each in Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts, 10 Udhampur, seven Poonch and three in Kathua district.
Reasi district didn’t report any new cases today.
Jammu and Kashmir now has 4074 active positive cases including 2151 in Kashmir division and 1923 in Jammu region.
Jammu district has highest 1248 active positive cases while Kathua has 130, Udhampur 110, Doda 96, Rajouri 94, Poonch 79, Kishtwar 66, Samba 54, Ramban 36 and Reasi 10.
Corona count in Jammu region has gone up to 1,70,520. Of them, 1,66,259 have recovered from the virus while there have been 2338 casualties and 1923 active cases.
Meanwhile, the Union Territory of Ladakh today registered 21 fresh COVID positive cases including 17 in Leh district and four in Kargil.
Fresh cases have taken number of active positive cases in Ladakh to 150 including 141 in Leh district and nine in Kargil.
Corona count in Ladakh stood at 28821 including 28443 recoveries and 228 deaths—168 in Leh and 60 in Kargil district.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 431 positive cases of COVID-19 while one person died of the virus.
Srinagar reported 230 cases, Baramulla 99, Ganderbal 27, Budgam 23, Anantnag 22, Bandipora 15, Kupwara 10, Kulgam 4, and Pulwama one.
One person died of COVID-19 today taking the death toll to 4765 including 2427 in Kashmir.
An official said that 432 COVID-19 patients recovered today including 209 from Kashmir valley.
He said that there are now 4074 active cases including 2151 in Kashmir.
