Two die of COVID in Jammu, Leh; 14 yatris test +ve

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/LEH, Dec 18: One person died of COVID-19 and 42 tested positive in Jammu division while 109 fresh cases were reported in Kashmir valley. One fatality and 17 cases were recorded in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
A 56-year-old man, who was fully vaccinated but co-morbid succumbed to the virus at Amandeep Hospital Pathankot today. He hailed from Atal Setu Road in Basohli tehsil of Kathua district.
This has taken COVID toll in Jammu region to 2194 and Kathua district to 153.
A 75-year-old from Leh died of virus in COVID ICU in Leh taking Corona toll in Ladakh to 217 including 159 in Leh and 58 in Kargil district.
Among 42 cases in Jammu region, 17 were reported in Jammu district, 15 Reasi, four Ramban, two each in Rajouri and Doda and one each in Udhampur and Kishtwar districts.
Of 15 cases in Reasi, 14 were Mata Vaishno Devi Ji pilgrims who tested positive on their arrival at Katra Railway Station.
Forty five persons recovered from the virus leaving number of active positive cases in Jammu region to 361.
Among 17 fresh cases in Ladakh, 15 were registered in Leh district and two in Kargil.
Ladakh now has 173 active positive cases including 159 in Leh and 14 in Kargil district.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 109 fresh cases of COVID-19.
Those who tested positive include 55 from Srinagar, 17 from Baramulla, 9 from Budgam, 2 from Pulwama, 7 from Kupwara, 1 from Anantnag, 6 from Bandipora and 12 from Ganderbal.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 213,873 including 210,459 recoveries and 2,317 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,458 including 1,097 from Kashmir division.
With 140 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 333,722 which is 98.24 percent of the total cases.
