RAMBAN, Apr 30: Two persons were arrested today with poppy straw in Batote area of the district.
According to a police official, today about 2.30 PM, a police party from police station Batote during naka checking intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK03B-8621, which was on its way from Srinagar to Jammu.
He said on checking of the vehicle, the police party recovered 26 kg of poppy straw (bhukki). Both the vehicle as well as the consignment was seized by the police while driver and cleaner of the truck who were identified as Abid son of Manzoor Ahmed and Irfan son of Abdul Rehman, both residents of Baramulla, were also arrested.
In this connection, a case was registered at police station Batote and further investigations started.
