JAMMU, June 19: Teachers’ Welfare Association (TWA), Jammu has appealed the Governor and Chief Secretary of the State to intervene personally for release of one month additional salary to the teachers who have rendered duty during civic polls and panchayat polls.
“It may sound incredible but it is true that Finance Department is playing truant with some districts by not releasing additional one month salary of the employees who have rendered duty during civic polls and panchayat polls despite clear instructions from Chief Secretary,” Jasmeet Singh Madaan, TWA president said.
He said employees in districts Samba and Rajouri have already got the additional salary but why it has been withheld in case of other districts is a question which needs to answer none other than higher officials of Finance Department. “Already the bills are languishing in treasury and on persistent enquiry, it came to fore that Finance Department is adopting dilly dallying tactics in releasing the same,” he added.
Madaan sought intervention of Governor Satya Pal Malik and Chief Secretary, B V R Subrahmanyam to plug out the lacunae in the system by initiating enquiry into the matter.
