JAMMU, Nov 27: Residents of village Seohra, Tulsi Vihar and Gole Gujral today staged a protest outside Revenue complex, Gole Gujral against Jammu Development Authority (JDA) for closing road of Seohra village which leads to many villages up to border areas.
The protesting people raised slogans against the JDA. They said the JDA has allotted a plot in the center of this road to a person just for some extra amount by claiming it as prime location plot.
They said last year a delegation from Tulsi Vihar (Gole Gujral, Jammu) met Lt Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha demanding blacktopping of the road from Yog Ashram to Tulsi Vihar, Seohra and Gole Gujral (Jammu) and the LG forwarded the case to then Divisional Commissioner Raghav Langer, who forwarded the case to SE PWD (R&B) on 17-03-22 for taking action.
The protesting locals informed that Superintendent Engineer PWD (R&B) approved the work of blacktopping of the road and the same was submitted to NABARD on 23-05-22 but the work was never taken.
Meanwhile, they said, a deputation of locals met with DC Jammu Avny Lavasa on 12-10-22 to make existing 40-feet road transportable from Yog Ashram to Tulsi Vihar Seohra and Gole Gujral as it was encroached by mining mafia by dumping sand and stones and parking their vehicles.
The locals said that the DC forwarded the deputation to ADC Harvinder Singh who on 19-10-22 constituted a 4-member committee comprising Enforcement Officer (JMC), Naib Tehsildar Jammu West, Naib Tehsildar JDA Zone A and AEE PWD(R&B) Division-3.
“The committee had to submit its report before 26-10-22 but no action has been taken after the expiry of this deadline,” the protesting people said, adding now on 19th of November, JDA allotted a plot in the middle of the road to a person who has even fenced the plot with a boundary wall.
They said when former minister Sham Choudhary questioned VC JDA as to how can they block the main road and issue plots under high-tension electrical line, VC JDA replied they will make a road from other side.
Whereas as per residents alternative road will be long route and will cause lot of hurdles to pass heavy vehicles upto Grid Station.
