Truth is always victorious: Priyanka on release of Darapuri, Sadaf

LUCKNOW, Jan 7: Targeting the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after the release of retired IPS officer SR Darapuri and Congress leader Sadaf Jafar on Tuesday, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that a lie has no legs to stand upon.
Congress party leader Sadaf Jafar and Mr Darapuri, along with 10 others, who had been sent to jail in December, following the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests in Lucknow, were granted bail by a local court on Saturday.
However, they were released after the completion of formalities on Tuesday.
Following their release, Ms Vadra tweeted, “Ambedkarite thinker and former IPS Mr Darapuri and Congress leader Sadaf Jafar were released from jail today. Upon being asked for evidence, UP police could not prove anything.”
Further, she said, “The BJP government has shown its true thinking by arresting innocents and those who carry forward Baba Saheb’s legacy.”
Notably, Ms Vadra had visited SR Darapuri’s family on December 28. During this time, she was also stopped by the police, after which the Congress leader had alleged that she was roughed up by the cops.
Later, she went to the Polytechnic crossing on a scooty and then travelled on foot till Mr Darapuri’s residence.
A local court in Lucknow had on Saturday given the order of releasing ten people, including SR Darapuri and Congress leader Sadaf Jafar on bail on Saturday.
The court while granting bail asked the accused to furnish two bail bonds of Rs 50,000 each and personal bonds of an equal amount. (UNI)
