JAMMU, Sept 16: The driver and cleaner of a truck had a miraculous escape when their vehicle plunged into Ranbir canal in the jurisdiction of police station Bakshi Nagar.
According to a police official, a truck bearing registration number JK02P-6729 was on its way from Jammu to Rajouri via Jammu-Akhnoor road when on reaching Toph near pencil factory, the truck driver lost control over the steering and the vehicle plunged into the Ranbir canal flowing beside the road.

He said the mishap occurred today between 12:30 AM and 1 AM, and the truck was loaded with cement bags. “Both driver and cleaner were immediately retrieved from the truck. They had no major injury except some minor scratches,” the official said, adding, Bakshi Nagar police had registered a case in this connection.
The official said that the truck was taken out from the canal by the police this afternoon by engaging a crane.
