SAMBA, May 6: A team of forest officials conducted a night raid and seized a truck loaded with timber logs in Bari Brahmana area along National Highway.
According to a spokesman of Forest Department, on specific information that timber logs were being illicitly transported in a truck, the patrolling team of Forest Department on directions of Dr AD Singh, DFO Jammu, immediately swung into action and reached near Gujjar Basti on National Highway.
He said vehicle bearing registration No JK02C-4057 was seized and brought to Range Office Bahu with the help of local police under escort. The forest offence report has been registered under provision of J&K Forest Act in this connection and further investigation is being carried out to identify the source of timber logs as well as persons involved in the illicit transportation of timber.
The seizure was made by Anwar Mohd, Block Officer Chowadi and RD Singh, Block Officer Balole under direct supervision of Vinod Sharma, Range Officer Bahu.
