Truck carrying bovines hit police gypsy, fled

KATHUA, Dec 12: A Police Gypsy was damaged after it was hit by a truck carrying bovine animals at Bedian Pattan on the bank of Ravi river when it tried to intercept the truck which was on its way from Punjab to Kashmir today.
According to police a Police party in a Gypsy during the routine checking was patrolling in the Ravi area and when it reached near village Bedian Pattan it saw two trucks with bovine animals coming along the bank of the river. The police party tried to intercept one truck which instead of stopping hit the Gypsy causing damage to it and fled along with the smugglers of the another truck which was following it leaving the second vehicle in the area along with 12 bovine animals.
The Police seized the truck bearing number JK0AH 2566 and rescued the 12 bovine animals. The Kathua Police has registered a case under section 307/188. It has also launched manhunt for the smugglers and the another truck.
Meanwhile Samba Police has arrested two bovine smugglers and seized the vehicle along with bovine animals at Balole bridge in Bari Brahmana area during a routine naka today.
A police party of Bari Brahmana Police Station led by Inspector Arun Jamwal, SHO during a routine naka intercepted a truck bearing Registration number JK02 AD -3937 but on seeing the Police party, the driver as well as his associate tried to fled away leaving the vehicle behind, a police spokesman said .
He said however the police acted quickly and nabbed the duo. They were identified as Zaheer Abbas S/o Mohamed Younis of Bhathindi Jammu and his associate Mohammed Aslam S/o Wazir Ahmed of Janipur Jammu. The Police also rescued 17 bovine animals from the truck.
The police has registered a case FIR No 118/2013 under Section 188 RPC, 3 Cruelty Towards Animals Act in Bari Brahmana Police Station and started investigations.
