Tributes paid to Lala Hans Raj Mahajan on 153rd birth anniversary

JAMMU, Oct 2: Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha today paid rich tributes to Lala Hans Raj Mahajan—a great social reformer of his time and Founder of this Sabha on his 153rd birth anniversary during a programme organized at Lala Hans Raj Mahajan park situated on Sunder Singh Gurdwara Road, here.
The function started with Vedic Havan performed by a group of renowned pandits and a group of students of Ved Mandir, Dharmic Institute of Jammu. Kanya pujan of 11 girls was also apart of the Havan.
Sarishta Gupta and Romesh Chander Gupta of the sabha were the prominent persons of the Havan. Other prominents included Yash Paul Gupta, Jugal Mahajan, Amar Chand Gupta, Om Prakash Mahajan (Kaku Shah), Shiv Pratap Gupta, Om Parkash Gupta, Sanjay Mahajan, Arun Gupta, Rajesh Chowdhary, Yash Paul Gupta, CP Gupta, Mukesh Mahajan, Satish Gupta, Subash Gupta, Raman Gupta, Surinder Gupta, Romesh Chander Gupta and Balbir Gupta.
The great personalities who graced the occasion by their presence included Kavinder Gupta Ex- Deputy Chief Minister, Gulchain Singh Charak President Dogra Sadar Sabha, Ved Parkash Sharma President Brahmin Sabha, KK Khosa President Kashmiri Pandit Sabha, Rajesh Gupta Ex- MLA, Gopal Gupta, Dinesh Gupta and Sandhya Gupta Municipal Councillors, Rattan Lal Gupta Advocate, Kailash Langer, Prof Vijay Gupta, Munish Mahajan and Vipin Gupta President Mahajan Sabha, Channi Himmat.
After the Havan, the statue of Lala Hans Raj Mahajan erected in the premises of the park, was garlanded as a mark of honour to the said social leader who dedicated his whole life for the welfare and betterment of the society.
President of the Mahajan Sabha, Gulchain Singh Charak and KK Khosa in their speeches stressed to follow the foot prints of Lala Hans Raj Mahajan.
Romesh Chander Gupta announced a resolution of the Jammu Central Mahajan Sabha requesting the Government to rename the existing “Shalamar Road Jammu” as “Lala Hans Raj Mahajan Road Jammu”, which will be a great tribute to the social leader Lala Hans Raj Mahajan on his birth anniversary.
The function concluded with a word of thanks by President of the Mahajan Sabha.
