Tributes paid to Ashok Sodhi on death anniversary

Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, May 11: On 11th death anniversary of photojournalist Ashok Sodhi, who attained martyrdom while covering an encounter between terrorists and security forces at Samba, rich tributes were paid to him by journalists and others, here today. Jammu Working Journalists Association organized a function in this regard at K L Sehgal Hall, which was presided over by former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta as the chief guest. The programme started with the offering of flower petals at the portrait of Ashok Sodhi by Kavinder Gupta, Dy Mayor Advocate Purnima Sharma, SSP Mohan Lal, Sohail Kazmi, Pardeep Dutta, Afzal Shah and others. Kavinder, while paying tributes , lauded the role of Ashok Sodhi and said that he performed his duty till last with utmost zeal and dedication.

Inna Sodhi, the daughter of Ashok Sodhi, was also present on the occasion and while paying emotional tributes, said that she was proud of her father and shall endeavour to follow his example in the life. On this occasion, former DyCM also presented Ashok Sodhi Memorial Awards to journalists and photo-journalists. Those who were awarded, included Rajiv Mahajan. Press Club of Jammu also organized a simple function in this connection where a number of journalists paid tributes to Ashok Sodhi and shared their memories of working with the martyred photojournalist. The participating journalists offered flower petals on a portrait of Ashok Sodhi and prayed for peace to the departed soul. Daily Excelsior management and staff also paid rich tributes to Ashok Sodhi on his death anniversary. The management and staffers of Excelsior recalled the services of Ashok Sodhi and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
