JAMMU, Mar 23: Rich tributes were paid today to freedom fights and martyrs namely Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on their martyrdom day. In this connection, various social, political and other organizations held simple programmes where supreme sacrifice of these martyrs was recalled.
On the day, BJP Freedom Fighters & Martyr Cell organized a programme at Trikuta Nagar office where the party leaders paid floral tributes to the martyrs.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP State president & MLA Sat Sharma said that young generations should get inspiration from the sacrifices of these three martyrs and similar others, who left luxuries of life and did not hesitate to face the bullets.
Minister for Forests Ch Lal Singh, who also spoke on the occasion, said that India will never forget the supreme sacrifices of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, who were just in their young ages when raised the voice of revolt against the British rule and faced many atrocities but did not deviate from their pledge of serving the motherland.
BJP State vice-presidents Yudhvir Sethi, Mamta Singh, Rajni Sethi, Dr Darkshan Andrabi, Vice-Chairpersons Balbir Ram Rattan and S Varinderjit Singh, State spokesperson Prof Virender Gupta and SS Bijral, Mohan Singh Chouhan, Kulbushan Mohtra, Ayodhya Gupta and others also paid their tributes to the
Addressing in a function organized by Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial Committee at RS Pura, Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary urged upon the youth to take inspiration from the supreme sacrifice of the freedom fighters and asked them to follow their footsteps to take the country on the path of progress.
MLA, RS Pura Gagan Bhagat was also present on the occasion.
Team Jammu also organized a function to pay tributes to Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru on their martyr day. On the occasion, Team Jammu chairman Zorawar Singh Jamwal expressed his serious concern over drug menace and said that the martyrs would have never dreamt that after 70 years of Independence, the country would again become a slave of Drug Mafia. “It is a high-time to awake from deep slumber because drugs and narcotics are slightly consuming lives of the youth. Keep aside your political affiliations and come forward to take this war to the logical conclusion”, he stressed.
SDPO, Bakshi Nagar, Nikhil Rasgotra and SHO Police Station Bakshi Nagar, Inspector Ashwini Sharma also spoke on the occasion and appealed the gathering to come forward and help police in curbing drug menace.
A cultural activity of Nukkad Natak in Punjabi was organized by Punabi Deptt, University of Jammu, in collaboration with Indian Peoples Theatre Association- IPTA (Jammu Chapter) on the Martyrs’ Day. The Nukkad Natak titled ‘Baba Bolda Hai’ was based on the theme of patriotism.
The JK Unity Trust, led by its chairman Gaurav Chopra and his supporters and J&K Bhagat Singh Brigade organised a blood donation camp at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, Bakshi Nagar Jammu where a umber of youths participated and donated blood as a mark of respect to the martyrs. DySP Sugandha Mahajan was chief guest on the occasion.
Desh Bhagat Yadgaar Committee also remembered the three martyrs and paid rich tribute to them during a function organized here. On the occasion the Award of Honour was given to Late Comrade Parveen Kesar, one of the founder members of the Desh Bhagat Yadgaar Committee. Comrade Sukhdev Singh, Comrade G L Chanda and others spoke on the supreme sacrifice of the martyrs.
Yogananda College of Engineering & Technology (YCET) today observed “Shaheedi Diwas” and paid rich tributes to Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sukhdev. On this occasion, speeches were delivered by the students, who spoke on the life and sacrifices of the martyrs. Director YCET, Dr Shashi Kumar Singh, Chief Coordinator, Er B R Verma and other staff members also paid tributes to the martyrs.
J&K Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) organised a function to remember the martyrs who were hanged on March 23 in 1931. Speaking on the occasion, Vinod Sawhney, one of the freedom fighters, highlighted the life history of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and his associates, who fought for the freedom of the mother land. Besides Ved Gandotra, others who paid tributes to freedom fighters, included State president of Shri Ram Sena, Rajiv Mahajan, Rajinder Singh, Brij Mehra, Parbhat Kapahi, Rajan Gupta, Sahil Malhotra, Abhishiekh Kohli, Tej Ram Dogra, J J Singh, Devender Singh, Baldev Raj, Rajan Kumar and Varun Sharma.
For paying tributes to the martyrs, NSF also organized a programmed in Jammu University. Speaking on the occasion, NSF president Dr Vikas Sharma threw light on life and supreme sacrifices of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. Deepak Sharma, Pushpinder Singh and Pardeep Sharma also addressed on the occasion.
Jammu Kashmir Shaheed Bhagat Singh Federation organized a function at Shaheed Bhagat Chowk, near Jewel Cinema and paid floral tributes to the martyrs. Amidst raising of patriotic slogans, the Federation members, led by Manjit Singh Jatt, paid tributes and recalled the supreme sacrifices of the trio.
AISF State Council paid tributes to the martyrs by organizing a programme under the leadership of State Council members Com Ranbir Bandral and Com Sanjay Kotwal. On the occasion, the AISF members also discussed the prevailing scenario and said that young generation has greater role to lead the society.
Sunil Dimple, president Jammu West Assembly Movement paid rich floral tributes to Bhagat Singh Raj Guru and Sukh Dev on the Shahdi Divas by organizing a simple function in this connection. Speaking on the occasion, he alleged that some political parties for their vested interests, were making mockery of the supreme sacrifices of the martyrs by giving irresponsible statements, like abrogation of AFSPA, Indo-Pak talks and other anti-national acts.
JK Against Corruption paid tributes to the martyrs Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru during a function at Kusht Ashram Bhagwati Nagar Jammu. Rajan Gupta, president of the Trust and Raj Kumar, working president), said that the young generation needs to learn how our leaders sacrificed their lives for freedom of the country.
Peoples Republican Party (PRP) also organized a function at Srinagar to recall the sacrifices of martyrs Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sukhdev and said that they laid down their lives for the better future of people of the country.
The function was chaired by PRP president Mir Ghulam Rtasool and it was attended by senior leaders G M Bhat Hamdarad, G M War, Abdul Razak Dar, G M Shilvati and others who while recalling the sacrifices of the martyrs said that country has still to go a long way to attain their dreams.
They said poverty, corruption, casteism and other disparities still exist in the country and our priority should be that we should launch a crusade against them.
