JAMMU, Mar. 23: Jammu Rising Stars registered emphatic win in the inaugural day of the 5-Matches Cricket Evaluation Series for Junior Cricketers, which got underway at Parade Ground, here today.
The Cricket Series for Junior Cricketers in which teams namely Jammu Rising Stars and Vishal Kings Jammu are participating is being organized jointly by Jammu Sports Council and J&K Sports Promoters Club Jammu.
The slogan of the tournament is “Sports Shall Live On…” .
In the inauguration function Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman Jammu Sports Council was the Chief Guest, whereas Vivek Shekhar DySP City North was the guest of honour on the occasion.
While speaking on the occasion, Kalra lauded the efforts of the organizing team for conducting the evaluation cricket series for the junior cricketers with the objective to provide opportunity to them and analyze their regular performances in the matches conducted for them.
The organizing secretary Rajesh Gill speaking on the occasion said that earlier 30 matches for these cricketers were conducted by the organizing team and this series is being organized with the reason to evaluate the individual performances of the participating cricketers.
Earlier, in the opening match, Jammu Rising Stars defeated Vishal Jammu Kings by 6 wickets.
Batting first, Vishal Jammu Kings scored 121 runs in 23 overs , with Sachin (33) and Akshit (13) being the main scorers.
From Jammu Rising Stars, Samarpit took 3 wickets, while Aditpal took 2 wickets. Adhishwer Kotwal, Gugjap Singh, Laith August and Shiv Sagar shared 1 wicket each.
Jammu Rising Stars, in reply, achieved the target in 21 overs for the loss of 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Shivansh (36), Aparajit (21), Jugjap (15) and Arya Sachivansh (11) were the main scorers for Jammu Rising Stars.
For Vishal Jammu Kings, Umer Sadiq, Abhay Tondon, Dhruv Kumar and Praful Dhar shared 1 wicket each. Shivansh was adjudged as man of the match.
The opening match was officiated by Sandeep Manchanda, Sanjay Manchanda and Vinod Kandayara.
