JAMMU, Sept 27: On birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Deshbhagat Yaadgar Committee, NSF and other organizations today paid him rich tribute.
In a programme in this connection by Deshbhagat Yaadgar Committee, the participants from different organisations were present in the special gathering. Some of them addressed the gathering and highlighted the aims and objectives formulated by the Shahid -e-Azam.
Speakers said we should uphold the politics of peace and interdependence with behavioral attitude of tolerance and coexistence among all diverse identities and ethnicities to make the country united and progressive.
The gathering also resolved to demand Statehood to Jammu Kashmir with dignity and status having safeguards of land and employment only to residents of Jammu Kashmir, restore democracy and ensure voting right only for local residents of Jammu Kashmir . The speakers were Sukhdev Singh, Sheikh Abdul Rehman (ex MP), Adv J A Kazmi, I D Khajuria, Balkar Singh, Ashwani Pardhan, Pritam Singh, Prempal Singh, Sahid Saleem Mir, Gitten Singh, Ashwani Pardhan, Mohit Kumar, Girdhari Lal Chanda, Aamar Chand Bhagat, Romesh Verma, Com Mohan Lal, Shiv Rattan Singh and others.
To celebrate the occasion, NSF activists also organized a simple function and paid tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh besides garlanding his portrait. Dr Vikas Sharma, Coordinator Jammu District Urban and Zonal Secretary JKNC was the chief guest while Dr Sukhdev Singh, State president NSF presided over the function.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vikas Sharma said that mixture of religion with politics was destroying the country and vested interests were hoodwinking the common masses to achieve their vicious agenda. Cautioning the people, he said we have to make all out efforts to expose such black sheep in the system in the overall interest of public.
Dr Sukhdev Singh recalled the planning capability, boldness and feeling of nationalism in martyr Bhagat Singh and stressed upon the youth to follow his ideas. He appealed to the youth to come forward to eliminate all evils from the society. Narinder Singh and Sumit Giri also spoke on the occasion.
