UDHAMPUR, Sept 27: Udhampur Police today booked one more notorious drug peddler under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (PITNDPS) Act for his repeated involvement in selling and distributing contraband narcotics among the youth of Ramnagar area.
The accused, namely Krishan Lal alias Lundi, son of Badri Nath, resident of Ward number 09, Ramnagar was taken into custody and sent to jail.
On the directions of SSP Udhampur, Dr Vinod Kumar, dossier of Krishan Lal was prepared and sent for approval of the competent authority. Subsequently, the case was duly processed and after obtaining sanction from the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, the said drug peddler was detained under PITNDPS Act.
According to Police, the accused was a threat to the peaceful environment and had been trying to involve youth of the area in drug addiction.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 11.70 grams of contraband Heroin like substance from their possession.
The duo was riding a motorcycle (JK14H- 1297), which was intercepted by a Police party of PS Ramnagar, led by SHO Pushpinder Singh and assisted by PSI Abhinav Bhatti, under the supervision of SDPO Ramnagar, Dr Bhishm Dubey.
On frisking of bike rider Ram Puri, son of Chuni Lal of Chigli Chowri Ramnagar and pillion Rajesh Singh son of Yash Pal of Ward number 11, Ramnagar, Police recovered 11.70 grams of contraband Heroin like substance and arrested both the accused persons on the spot.
In this regard, case FIR number 123/2022 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered in PS Ramnagar.
