KISHTWAR, Dec 28: A Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) building suffered damages due to fire in Chatroo area of this district.
As per police sources, fire broke out in TRC building at Chatroo under mysterious circumstances today evening.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and informed the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
Fire fighters along with tenders from Fire Station Kishtwar rushed to the spot and started operation to douse the flames. Army personnel from 11 Rashtriya Rifles, police cops and locals also assisted in fire fighting operation.
After hectic efforts, the fire was brought under control, but some portion of the TRC building was gutted in ablaze,
As per preliminary reports, staff of Agency working with NHIDCL (constructing new 3 lane National Highway from Sudmahadev to Chatroo Singhpura) had taken this building on rent and had established office and allied sections there.
No injury or casualty has been reported in the incident, while the exact loss could not be ascertained yet.
Chatroo Police has taken cognizance in this regard.
Meanwhile, the people living in Chatroo area demanded Fire Station at Chatroo to save losses, which they face during fire incidents.
“In the past, many fire incidents took place and properties worth crores were gutted in fire. Despite that, the District Administration is not establishing a Fire Station in Chatroo”, the residents said.
“Had there been any Fire Station in Chatroo, the losses suffered due to inferno at TRC building could have been saved”, they added.
