JAMMU, Aug 27: All J&K Transport Welfare Association has said that transporters are unable to participate in Jammu bandh call given by the Bar Association Jammu as Transport Industry has already faced heavy losses during Covid -19.
Addressing a joint press conference here today, chairman of the Association, Ajit Singh, accompanied by presidents of Trucks, Tankers, Buses, Mini-buses, Tempo Travellers, Sumos/Taxis and Autorikshaw Unions, said that transporters are unable to extend support to bandh call given by J&K High Court Bar Association on August 29, 2022, because the Government was already working and processing transport related problems.
“Our transport sector has already suffered huge loss during Covid-19 period, moreover, we belong to private sector, and it would not be feasible for us to join strike,” they maintained.
There were some rumours being created in the social media regarding transporters strike on Monday ( Aug 29). Therefore, the Transport Welfare Association has clarified that they are not going to participate in any type of strike/ bandh call on August 29. Mata Vaishnodevi, Machail Mata, Mani Mahesh and other pilgrims will be hit badly with the strike proposed bandh. The transport facility will, however, remain functional on August 29, they added.
