JAMMU, Aug 27: DDC Chairman Jammu, Bharat Bhushan Bodhi today urged the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to immediately implement the short term project for creation of protection Bandh worth Rs 52 crore on priority basis.
The DDC Chairman today conducted a tour of Tawi Island at Phallian Mandal and took stock of the problems being faced by the people of the area. The people apprised the DDC Chairman about the loss and damages being suffered by them due to recent incessant rains and flash floods.
The DDC Chairman also inspected the portions of Tawi river bank which were washed away from both sides of the river due to recent flash floods. He said that there is every chance of entering the Tawi water in the houses of locals residing in Phallian Mandal areas if protection Bunds would not constructed on time.
The DDC Chairman appealed to the Lt Governor to immediately sanction the short term project for creation of protection Bandh worth Rs 52 crore which has already submitted by the district administration to save the people from further damages. He said that there is dire to construct protection Bunds on both sides of River Tawi at villages Sure Chak and Khandwal.
Meanwhile, the DDC Chairman also visited Sohanjna area and met with people of area and listened to their issues related to basic amenities. Mandal President Nihal Singh and his team apprised the DDC Chairman about the problem being faced by the people of the area related to power supply.
The DDC Chairman directed the Sectoral Officer of J&K Power Development Corporation Limited to address people’s issues on priority basis. He assured that the issues putforth by the people of the area shall be addressed as the government is keen to provide good governance.
Bharat Bhushan directed front line functionaries of various line departments to be punctual and give due hearing to public grievances. He urged the public to come forward and work as a team for the development of the area. He said that the Central Government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has committed to provide every service on the doorstep of people, especially people residing in rural areas.
