Training programme for ‘Palliative & Geriatric Care’ inaugurated

JAMMU, Mar 11: Additional Chief Secretary Health and Medical Education, Vivek Bhardwaj here today inaugurated a three day training programme for ‘Palliative Care & Geriatric Care’ at Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar.
Director General MCH, Immunization and Family Welfare J&K and Director Health Services Jammu, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman was also present on the occasion.
The training programme is being conducted in collaboration with Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC) under the supervision of Dr. Sushma Bhatnagar HoD Pain and Palliative Care AIIMS, New Delhi. Faculty from different parts of the country joined the training programme to train two doctors and two nurses from each district of Jammu and this is the first of its kind of training in J&K.
Speaking on the occasion Vivek Bhardwaj appreciated the role of Directorate of Health Services to start these new much awaited services in the health sector.
Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar is presently the only District Hospital in J&K which has qualified for being the first Registered Medical Centre for Palliative Care.
Dr. Sushma Bhatnagar handed over the Certificate of Registration to Vivek Bhardwaj on this occasion.
Dr. Rohit Lahori, Unit Head of Palliative Care also received the Certificate of Registration under Registered Medical Centre.
Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Narinder Bhatial, Medical Superintendent Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu.
