JAMMU, Feb 25: The two-day 7th induction-cum-training programme regarding successful implementation of Materiovigilance Programme of India at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, concluded today.
The programme was organized by Postgraduate Department of Pharmacology of GMC Jammu and conducted by National Coordination Centre – Materiovigilance Programme of India (MvPI), Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The training will help the Institution to make the national programme fully operational by the initiative taken under the leadership of Principal/Dean GMC Jammu Prof Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma and HoD Pharmacology, Dr Seema Gupta.
Speaking on the occasion, Coordinator-Incharge MvPI Centre GMC Jammu, Prof Dr Vishal R Tandon said that whole Department of Pharmacology which includes all faculty members, demonstrators and postgraduate are now fully trained for the successful implementation of MvPI in the interest of patient safety.
Dr Nusrat Kareem Bhat, Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, was the deputy coordinator of the program. She said MvPI is meant to enable safety data collection in systematic manner so that regulatory decisions and recommendations on safe use of medical devices being used in India could be carried on the basis of data generated. The programme will capture medical devices related adverse events like death or serious deterioration of health or serious injuries and disability, she added.
