Training program for JPDCL Linemen concludes

KATHUA, Mar 10: A 4-day training programme for the Linemen working in Jammu Power Development Corporation Limited (JPDCL) Kathua concluded today.
The programme was organized by the Inspection Wing of Power Development Department, Jammu in collaboration with REC Institute of Power Management, Hyderabad.
Around 25 linemen working in Kathua and Vijaypur areas of JPDCL participated in the training programme. The main topics covered were Basics of Electricity, functions and duties of Linemen Service, types of cables including AB cables, Transformer Erection, Commissioning & Maintenance, basics of metering, types of meters, billing & collection, handling of electric supply lines and apparatus, accident prevention etc. Safety Tool Kits were distributed amongst the trainees during the function.
The valedictory function was amongst others attended by Samir Sharma (AEE, Inspection Division, Jammu), Sunil Kumar (AE, Inspection Division, Jammu) and visiting faculty and trainer R K Mahajan from RECIPMT, Hyderabad.
Samir Sharma, in his valedictory address, briefed the participants about the recent developments in the power sector. He informed that the department has undertaken massive infrastructure development works and various reforms to improve the power supply position so that the best of the services are provided to the consumers.
He highlighted the importance of electrical safety in execution of the works and managing day to day operations as nothing is precious than human life. He further informed that this training programme was part of the Government’s initiative on capacity building of its C&D employees and the Inspection wing of PDD has been entrusted with the responsibility to organize regular training programmes and workshops so as to ensure the overall efficiency of the department.
Sharma said a series of such training programmes shall be conducted by the PDD in Jammu, Vijaypur, Rajouri, Poonch, Udhampur and Batote this month.
The other officials from Inspection wing namely Mohd Wasim Mir (JE), Narinder Gupta (Technician) and Rajinder Singh (Technician) coordinated the programme.
