NEW DELHI, May 31:
Trainee officers of the Indian Defence Estates Service (IDES) today called on President Pranab Mukherjee here.
The officers of the 2012 and 2013 batches met the President at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.
During the meeting, the President said the IDES is mandated to deal with the municipal administration of 62 Cantonments and management of defence land of about 17.5 lakh acres across the country, a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson said.
The President urged the officers that they “must pursue application of modern management concepts and deploy suitable technology for record management of defence land under their jurisdiction.”
Mukherjee said the IDES officers were not only expected to know land laws and see that land records were updated, but also apply their mind and management skills.
He welcomed the probationers to the interesting and challenging task which lay ahead of them and urged the young trainees to carry out their duties with a spirit of service and devotion, the spokesperson said. (PTI)
