JAMMU, Aug 18: The traffic remained suspended on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway for over five hours today due to land slides in Ramban and Udhampur area.
Official sources said due to yet another fresh landslide at Mehar near Ramban this morning, the vehicular traffic movement on busy Jammu-Srinagar highway came to halt at around 8 am. It had rained during night in the area. The NHAI and Gammon authorities started restoration work and the road was cleared at around 1 pm. A large number of vehicles remained stranded for several hours on both sides of the highway.
Reports from Udhampur said that due to mud slides at Kheri, just 4 kms ahead of Jakheni ( Udhampur) on highway, the movement of vehicles remained disrupted for about an hour during morning. The NHAI machines cleared the slush/ slides and cleared the road.
