Traffic Police to paste ‘wrong parking’ stickers

JAMMU, May 6: Mohan Lal Kaith, SSP Traffic Rural Jammu today visited Vijaypur in district Samba and convened a meeting with the members of Beopar Mandal, prominent citizens and the owners of the local Transport Associations including drivers of commercial vehicles. Behari Lal, DySP Traffic Samba-Kathua and concerned officials were also present in the meeting.
Kaith stressed that in order to deal with the menace of obstructive/wrong parking/parking on road side, Traffic Police Rural Jammu is going to start system of pasting stickers on wrongly parked vehicles as “wrong parking” leads to frequent traffic jams/obstruct free flow of traffic in major towns of this unit.
Stickers pasted on such wrongly parked vehicles will be compounded in the office of SSP Traffic Rural Jammu by paying a fine of Rs 500/- within 15 days. Those who fail to compound their challan within 15 days, their challan will be sent to concerned District Court.
He asked the general public to follow the traffic rules for their own safety. He said that the society as a whole has to participate in this process and to take responsibility for hassle free movement of vehicular traffic.
The vehicle operators are requested to park their respective vehicles at the appropriate earmarked parking places and not keep unattended vehicles.The concerned DySP (T) and DTI have been asked to familiarize the general public regarding this menace through PA system.
Kaith also highlighted the road accident data since, 2016 to data to till date of Traffic Rural Jammu in the meeting, saying the percentage of road accidents has been minimized. However, Traffic Police Rural Jammu is taking strenuous efforts to ensure the minimization of road accidents further.
He further stressed the general public particularly the youth folks to strengthen the hands of the officers of Traffic Police Rural Jammu, so that the violators are booked under the relevant sections of Motor Vehicle Acts to avoid any untoward vehicular incidents.
