RAJOURI, May 6: President Municipal Committee, Thanna Mandi, Shakeel Mir has demanded that checking of vehicles plying on Mughal Road be shifted from Poshana Top to Chandimarh or Pir Ki Gali.
Alleging harassment and inconvenience to the general public, during checking of vehicles at Poshana Top on Mughal Road, Mir said this checking point has become cause of harassment and inconvenience to the general people.
MC president said he was not against checking but the location of checking is not suitable as the place lacks water availability, cafeteria/ tea-stall etc which is a great headache for common passengers and patients in particular which travel towards SKIMS, SMH and other hospitals in Kashmir.
A large number of vehicles remain stranded at Poshana Top which is extremely sloppy and tough terrain and the checking spot should be shifted either to Chandimarh or Peer Ki Gali.
He said checking also takes place at Dera Gali but passengers do not suffer there due to these facilities.
The Police deployed at Poshana is only concerned with Tata Mobiles and trucks and not worried about the suffering of commuters majority of which are patients, students etc thus causing great inconvenience to travelers. Mir said senior Police officers must take note of this issue.
