Traffic Police takes steps to check hooliganism on roads

JAMMU, Dec 29: Traffic Police Jammu (Rural) has taken series of measures to prevent hooliganism on the roads and National highways during New Year revelry on December 31 night.
A handout issued by Dushyant Sharma, SP Traffic (Rural) Jammu said a special squad has been constituted for late hours patrolling on National Highway and major roads under the charge of Inspector Traffic with their staff on rotation basis under the supervision of a DySP to keep strict vigil on any kind of nuisance on the roads.
“All challaning officers have been deployed along with breath analyzer, florescent jackets and signal torches for keep check on mischief mongers and detain those creating nuisance on the roads under the influence of alcohol.
“A special check will also be kept on over-speeding of the vehicles,’’ Sharma said.
He added that various other drives are also being launched again other visible offences like overloading, driving without crash helmet, non-wearing of seat belt and use of mobile phones during driving.
Special teams of Traffic Police led by Jagdish Singh Sumbria, and Madan Lal Sharma, DySPs would keep check on any kind of undesirable activities.
