JAMMU, Feb 20: Jammu Maxi Club and Special Taxi Operator Union (JMCSTOU) today alleged that traffic police personnel are disrespecting High Court judgment and harassing its members on parking their vehicles on the right side of PHE Office, BC Road, Jammu.
Addressing a press conference here today, JMCSTOU members said that Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) vide its order dated 02-03-2021 declared the area from Jewel Chowk (BC Road) upto KC Crossing as no parking area which ultimately compelled the Union to approach High Court (HC) at Jammu to challenge the JMC order on the ground that Transport Commissioner in terms of notification number 08-MUD of 2020 dated 14-12-2020 has already declared the right side of PHE Office BC Road towards KC Theatre as B-Category Stand.
They said the HC disposed writ petition filed by the Union by allowing its members to park their vehicles on the right side of the PHE Office, BC Road towards KC Theatre and it was directed that the traffic police authority shall not cause harassment to the members of the Union if they park their vehicles on the said place. “Thereafter, JMC in order to comply the directions passed by HC, JMC passed an order dated 04-05-2022 and declare the right side of the PHE Office BC Road towards KC Theatre as B-Category Stand for contract carriage (Tempo/Winger/Sumo),” they added.
The Union members said despite the judgment of HC and JMC order, the concerned traffic authorities are harassing and not allowing them to park their vehicles on the said place. The traffic officials are disrespecting HC judgment and imposing challan when we park our vehicles there, the Union members alleged and appealed higher officials of traffic police to pass appropriate directions to traffic police officials deployed in the area to allow the Union members to park their vehicles without any hinderance.
