UDHAMPUR, Oct 13: A Traffic Police cop (SPO) was crushed to death by a rashly driven unidentified vehicle on the National Highway near Garnai, here late evening.
The deceased was identified as 42-year old Mohan Lal, son of Bodh Raj, resident of Dhanu, Udhampur. He was working as SPO with the Traffic Wing of J&K Police and performing duty at Garnai when a rashly driven unidentified vehicle ran over him.
The victim reportedly died on the spot while the vehicle involved in the accident fled the scene. Later, body of the deceased was shifted to District Hospital Udhampur for postmortem and other legal formalities.
Police have registered a case in this connection and launched a hunt to catch the vehicle involved in the accident.
