KARGIL, Oct 6: Traffic awareness programme was organised by Motor Vehicle Department LAHDC Kargil along with Traffic Police and Nun Kun Driving Institute here.
During the programme, officials of MVD Kargil, Traffic Police, students and volunteers made people aware about the new Traffic Act as well as fines and rules and urged the people to obey traffic rules, wear helmet and seat belt.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kargil Baseer Ul Haq Chowdhary was the chief guest on the occasion and SSP Kargil Dr Vinod Kumar was the guest of honour.
DC distributed free helmets amongst those bikers who were without helmet which were sponsored by Nun Kun Driving Institute.
It was for the first time in Kargil that the traffic violators were punished to do volunteer service of making people aware of the traffic rules for more than 2 hours.
On the occasion, ARTO Kargil Khadim Hussain, Inspector Traffic Nissar Ali and other officers were also present.
While talking to media persons, ARTO Kargil Khadim Hussain said that it’s a pre sensitization camp to make the public aware about the new traffic rules. He urged the people to obey traffic rules so that they remain safe from any eventualities.
Inspector Nissar Ali told that the Traffic Department as per the direction of IGP Traffic is making people aware about the new traffic rules.
