Traders, separatists call for shutdown

SRINAGAR, Oct 11:  Separatists and traders have called for shutdown in Kashmir valley tomorrow against the attack on two drivers in Udhampur on National Highway two days ago.
Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation (KTMF) headed by Mohammad Sadiq Baqal today called for the shutdown across the Kashmir on October 12  against “murderous assault” on two Kashmiri drivers from Anantnag.
The members of trade body today staged a protest in Press Enclave here against the attack and chanted slogans against the RSS and Coalition Government. Protesters accused the saffron organizations of “deliberately” provoking people of the Valley and hindering the trade and tourism activities.
Meanwhile, the chairman of moderate Hurriyat faction Mirwaiz Umar Farooq extended support to traders call and urged people to observe shutdown tomorrow.
The hardline Huriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Yasin Malik separately called for shutdown against the Udhampur incident.
In view of the shutdown, the Kashmir University postponed the examinations scheduled for October 12 . “All Kashmir University examinations scheduled to be held on Monday (October 12, 2015) have been postponed,” said Public Relations Officer KU in a statement. He added that the fresh dates for the deferred examinations shall be notified separately.
