Trade unionists, social activists to frame civil society

JAMMU, Feb 8: A meeting of various trade union leaders and social activists was held here, today under the leadership of president Pensioners and Senior Citizens Welfare Society, Mir Ghulam Rasool Butwani in which prevailing situation in the State as well as country was threadbare discussed.
The meeting decided to frame a civil society based on secular and social values to promote good will among the people of different regions and religions of the State to seek justice for working class, farmers and other down-trodden people of the State, besides fighting corruption which has eaten up the vitals of the society.
The meeting constituted a Committee comprising of Mushtaq Ahmed Inqalabi from Shopian, Comrade Baldev Raj from Jammu, P N Raina from Anantnag, Haji Ghulam Mohamed Rather from Budgam and Mir Abdul Rashid from Srinagar who will coordinate with Mir Ghulam Rasool in the constitution of the civil society and giving it a suitable name. The Society will work for the betterment of the people of the all the three regions of the State as well as the country, for the strengthening of democratic values and providing basic amenities to the people.
