JAMMU, July 3: After three weeks of suspension, cross-LoC trade between two parts of divided State resumed today on Poonch-Rawlakote route with Pakistan authorities opening gates at Chakan-Da-Bagh facilitating movement of trucks from both sides.
Trade between the two sides had been suspended three weeks ago after heavy firing between Indo-Pak troops at Krishna Ghati sector in Poonch district. Pakistan authorities had stopped opening gates at Chakan-Da-Bagh after the firing leading to suspension of cross-LoC bus, that operates every Monday and trade, which takes place from Tuesday to Friday.
The bus service had resumed yesterday while the trade resumed today, official sources said.
From Poonch, 21 trucks left for Hajeera, Rawlakote in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) carrying Lychee worth Rs 97 lakh. From PoK, eight trucks reached Poonch with dry fruits to the tune of Rs 1 crore.
Paramjit Singh, Trade Facilitation Officer (TFO), Poonch and Arshad Mehmood, TFO Hajeera were present at Chakan-Da-Bagh during cross-LoC movement of trucks.
