SRINAGAR, June 2:
Taking a jibe at the civil administration over alleged level of corruption imbedded in its roots, a ruling People’s Democratic Party MLA claimed that it took a teacher, from Karnah in North Kashmir, 18 years to prove that he is not dead in Government records.
“Under mistaken identity, a Government employee by the name of Hashim from Karnah constituency in North Kashmir, was declared dead. He ran from pillar to post, but due to corruption and inefficiency of our Government offices, it took him 18 years to prove that he was alive,” PDP MLA Raja Manzoor Dar said while discussing Budget 2016-17 in the Legislative Assembly.
Talking about the need to make Government officials accountable, he said if the State wants to progress, it needs to improve on the delivery system of its administration.
Meanwhile, PDP MLA Javid Hassan Beig also stressed upon making administrators and Government officials accountable for their actions and inactions. “If we want to progress, we need to make changes in the delivery system of Government officers and make official accountable for their actions,” he said.
Talking about the Budget 2016-17, he said the previous budget was better than this one, though it was not implemented on the ground. (UNI)
