JAMMU, June 2: Government is likely to appoint Jehangir Iqbal Ganaie as the new Advocate General of the State.
Official sources told EXCELSIOR that Mr Ganaie, who was earlier also appointed as Advocate General on March 15, 2015 and resigned following imposition of Governor’s Rule, is being considered for the post of Advocate General as present incumbent D C Raina has tendered his resignation from the post.
Yesterday afternoon, D C Raina submitted his resignation to Chief Secretary, B R Sharma. He has cited pre-occupation and personal commitments as the reason for not continuing with the present assignment given by the Government.
After demitting office, Mr Raina returned official vehicle provided to him by the Government and even vacated the official accommodation at Srinagar and left for his residence at Jammu.
