JAMMU, Feb 7: Chairman of AAP J&K for Administrative Engagement and Minority Affairs and Member DDC Suchetgarh Taranjit Singh Tony today questioned the stand of J&K Government to demolish the structures raised on state land by the land mafia instead of opting to auction the same or utilize these buildings for other purposes.
He was interacting with the people of Chowadi during a whirlwind tour of the area. He also listened to the issues being confronted by the people there. The AAP senior functionary questioned the Government over creating rubble of buildings and structures which could be utilized for a variety of works. He said that there must be something fishy or the Government has doubts that those people who are being evicted could knock the doors of the courts and get back the possessions of their property, otherwise there was no question of doing things in such a hurried manner.
Tony also questioned the selected action, as no BJP leader has been touched in the eviction drive despite reports emerging and people alleging that they are also party to it and many of these leaders have also grabbed state land using Roshni Act as an alibi. He also asked those steering the eviction drive that why only the Roshni land is being evicted and other cases of the grabbing of state land have been made exceptions in this whole gamut?
The senior AAP leader said that Government in seat is handpicking the opposition leaders giving two hoots to the law of the land. He said that the selective action in the case is proof that there are two sets of laws in the UT of J&K- one for opposition leaders and other for the BJP leadership.
Tony also demanded that the Government should come up with a written order on sparing the people having less than one kanal of land and small shops. He also demanded to abolish the Custodian Department and give ownership of land to refugees having possession of the same.
