‘Resume mining in Samba’

SAMBA, Aug 18: Due to ban on mining in district Samba for the last one year, the tipper and dumper owners staged a protest demonstration against the administration and demanded that the mining in Samba be resumed soon. The protestors demanded immediate starting of mining work in the district Samba as the people associated with this trade are at the verge of starvation.
They said although mining tenders have been called in Samba and the work allotted but authorities at the helm of affairs are delaying the execution.
Raising slogans in support of their demands, the protestors said that till date mining work has not been started, due to which there is a great anger among operators of tippers and dumpers. Dumper and tipper owner Meed Choudhary, said they are facing a lot of trouble due to the ban on mining in Samba as all their vehicles are parked since the ban and they are sitting idle. Not only this, they are forced to pay the installments of the vehicles from their pocket. He said that royalty tenders have been called in Samba district a few months ago, but mining has not been started till date. He said that his drivers are also facing a lot of trouble due to ban on mining in the district coupled with spread of Corona virus and imposition of lock down and other restrictions.
He made an appeal to District Development Commissioner, Samba, Rohit Khajuria urging him to issue instructions to concerned department to start mining work in Samba at the earliest so that the tipper and dumper operators and others associated with this trade could resume their work and feed their families.
This Correspondent while talking with District Mining Officer, Samba Vishal Dogra was informed that the process of the tendering has totally been completed but the environmental clearance is pending. He said as soon as environmental clearance is received the mining will be allowed.
Among others Sonu Kumar, Ramditta, Mohd Khan, Pardeep, Younas Khan, Parveen participated in the protest.
