JAMMU, Aug 21: National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India organized one day Regional Symposium at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.
R K Tikoo, illustrious socio-cultural activist of Jammu Kashmir and alumni of Banaras Hindu University was invited to this symposium on child protection, safety and child welfare.
Tikoo while addressing various issues that related to children including cultural education with an aim to create an ecosystem where children are able to develop without threat to their safety and well-being, briefed about measures being taken by UT of Jammu Kashmir.
While discussing, 256 NGO representatives from different states and authorities from National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, he informed that further more measures need to be taken for child protection along with observation home for women in distress. Those are establishment of library, recreational room, enhancement of mess facilities, weekly visits by a female doctor, boundary wall are not secure, to provide female security, rights to education under section 125 CrPc and appointment of chairperson and members as per the act S.O No 542,UT rules 2022.
It is pertinent to mention here that RK Tikoo as an Ento-Agrostology Specialist, Jammu Kashmir Government, has many social and scientific papers to his credit. He has presented / published six papers at national and one in international scientific conferences.
