Three persons booked under NDPS Act

RAMBAN, Oct 13: Three persons were booked under Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act case for illegally cultivating cannabis.
As per police sources, information was received from reliable sources at Police Station Ramban that one person namely Tirath Singh, son of Ganga Ram of Orno Demote, District Ramban and two persons namely Hemraj and Amar Singh, sons of Bhagat Ram of Gugusthi, District Ramban have illegally cultivated cannabis in their fields measuring several kanals.
Acting over the information, a case under FIR Numbers 170/2021 and 171/2021 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act were registered at Police Station Ramban against the aforesaid persons.
Afterwards, a special police team was constituted along with concerned Executive Magistrate (Naib Tehsildar) under the supervision of Sandeep Charak, SHO Ramban and Pardeep Singh Sen, DySP Headquarters Ramban under the overall supervision of SSP Ramban PD Nitya.
While reaching on the spot, the team found that cannabis plants have been illegally cultivated over a significant chunk of land.
After getting the magisterial orders on the spot and following necessary legal procedures, the illegally cultivated cannabis plants were destroyed in the presence of Executive Magistrate Ramban.
