Gandoh Apr 18: Three mute sisters of Dadhkai Panchayat also known as silent village of India in J&K’s Gandoh are enthusiastically preparing to cast their vote tomorrow and also inspiring others to participate in the festival of democracy.
Despite having hearing and speaking disability three siblings aged between 20 and 24 are upbeat to participate in the polling which will be held tomorrow.
Reshma Bano (24), Parveen Kousar 22, Saira Khatoon 20 daughters of Reham Ali of Dadhkai B Panchayat have off late become a source of inspiration for their neighbours and relatives as their spirit and enthusiasm to cast their franchise beside their eagerness to go to the polling station is inspiring them to also participate in the polling with zeal.
Father of three mute daughters Reham Ali 62 maintained that since last 15 days, it has become a routine in their home that after offering morning prayers (Namaz), cooking breakfast and completing household chores, his daughters go to their room and start selecting dress for the polling day and suggesting each other in their sign language what to wear beside they also hold their respective voter ID cards and proudly show to each other with pride and enthusiasm.
“We are unable to locate how and why they have become so anxious for their vote and not only us but our neighbors and relatives who so ever visit our house, first thing they do is to show their voter I’d card and try to explain them about vote,” Reham Ali added.
Their neighbour Jamat Danis said,”despite their disability, these deaf and dumb sisters have become a source of inspiration for all of them as their eagerness and enthusiasm for their Vote is commendable and has surely motivated all to positively cast their vote.”
Dadhkai-B is located on the hilltop about 9000 ft above sea level in Gandoh sub-division of Doda district.
The village also known as mute village of India because it houses 84 deaf and dumb persons.
Gandoh in Doda district is a part of Doda-Udhampur Parliamentary constituency which will go to polls tomorrow from 7am.
