Three interstate drug peddlers nabbed, 680 kg poppy straw recovered

JAMMU, Nov 29: Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Jammu today foiled a bid to smuggle commercial quantity of poppy straw worth lakhs of rupees by arresting three interstate drug peddlers.
On receiving specific information that a large quantity of poppy straw has been concealed in a truck bearing Registration Number JK02AH-6695 which after coming from Kashmir valley is parked near Transport Yard, Narwal (Jammu), a case FIR Number 17/2022 u/s 8/15/29 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station ANTF Jammu.
Accordingly, ANTF team immediately swung into action and spotted the truck near Try Ground, Narwal. During search, 680 Kg of poppy straw was recovered from the truck. Both the truck and the recovered contraband were seized by the ANTF team.
The accused driver namely Javid Shah son of Mushtaq Hussain Shah, resident of Kotdhara (Rajouri) along with co-driver Abid Shah son of Fazal Shah, resident of Kurhad (Rajouri) and another accomplice namely Irfan Bukhari son of Saghir Shah, resident of Sangpura (Rajouri), were arrested on the spot.
Anti-Narcotics Task Force is investigating forward and backward links of this racket. Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested drug peddlers were going to sell the same contraband among the youth and other drug peddlers in Punjab.
