Three drug peddlers held

Srinagar, May 26: Police today said it have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession in central Kashmir’s Srinagar and Budgam districts.
A police spokesman said police apprehended two drug peddler identified as Nazir Ahmad Khan and Meharaj-u-Din Wani during checking at Zahidpora locality of Hawal here in summer capital.
“Police recovered 100 grams of charas from their possession,” he said, adding that a case under FIR number 19/2017 under section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered against them and further investigation has been taken up.
The spokesman said a patrolling party of police noticed suspicious movement of a man at bus stand Magam in Budgam district. “The suspect was immediately apprehended and on his checking police recovered 550 grams of Charas. The accused was later identified as Ghulam Qadir Ganie,” he said.
The spokesman said a case under FIR number 61/2017 under section 8/20 NDPS Act stands registered against him and investigation has been started.
